California Nurse-Midwives Foundation is a registered California Non-Profit Foundation. We recognize philanthropy has a power problem. Foundations often limit the impact of folks who are doing the work on the ground and know what their communities need best. CNMF utilizes a trust-based approach to shift the relationship between our foundation and our grantees. To learn more about the philosophy of trust based philanthropy, click here.

STUDENT MIDWIFE FUNDING
CNMF invests in the diversification of midwifery care and understands that the barriers to completing your program are unique to you. We would like to get funding into your hands to support the success of your education and help you thrive during your program. We prioritize communities historically excluded from midwifery in our funding (BIPOC, LGBTQ+).
Our funding averages to $500 per student. If additional funding is needed, we will consider it on an individual basis.

REBEKAH KAPLAN LEGACY BIPOC SCHOLARSHIP FUND
ABOUT THE FUND
The CA Nurse-Midwives Foundation established the Rebekah Kaplan Legacy BIPOC Scholarship Fund to build a mechanism that financially sustains a pipeline for student midwives who have been historically and systematically negatively impacted from entering or completing CPM and CNM midwifery programs.
Diversification of the midwifery workforce is a critical step to addressing health care inequities that exist for Black, Indigenous, and other marginalized communities. We would like to get funding into the hands of midwives of color to support the success of their education and help them thrive during their program.
